Why MGM MIRAGE?

I was initially attracted to the company because of its outstanding diversity initiatives. As a leader in the gaming community, MGM MIRAGE's commitment to diversity is unmatched.

Have you been mentored at MGM MIRAGE?

My direct advisor is Ron Bailey, Director of Hotel Operations for the Luxor. I consider Ron to be one of the most influential people in my career, because he has such a unique perspective on this industry and is always there to guide me when I need some help. My philosophy is to have as many mentors as possible. I try to meet with managers and VP's in different departments in different hotels, monthly. The diversity in the guidance and advice gives me a more clear perspective about the company and my career goals.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Managing so many different projects simultaneously. Having such a large degree of freedom on what I do is completely gratifying. Every day is full of new surprises in the Luxor hotel operations department.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I enjoy working with so many different people and experiencing their lives and professional perspectives. The Luxor team members are some of the most talented and capable people I have ever encountered. I am truly blessed to work with so many wonderful people.

What have you done that "they didn't teach you about in school"?

Though I highly regard the academy and recommend all young professionals to obtain a degree, the material you learn in college can only take you so far. College prepared me to be a professional. Learning how to be a leader is what I believe I did not learn in school. Being an effective leader is something that must be cultivated from within.

"If I knew then what I know now"

I would network with working professionals as often as I could!

What do you do for fun?

I hang out with my best friend and other people in the MAP program.

What surprised you about Las Vegas?

How gorgeous Mount Charleston is in the wintertime.
